This is a comprehensive study about load measuring sensor for a Pin-On-Disc tribometer system utilizing a S-type load cell. The objective of this project is to develop a precision weight measuring device utilize a S-type load cell for a Pin on Disc(POD) tribometer The measuring system is a portion of the POD tribometer to comply with the first frictional law that is used for frictional behavior studies. The scope of this research project is not so much on the tribometer itself but more on weighing the weight electronically. The analysis is conducted by carrying out a calibration test with a maximum load of 5000 g and initial load of 0 g with an interval of 200 g. The voltage measured for each weight is recorded and a graph of voltage against mass is plotted. The A/D value is represented by asterisk points in the graph and show almost linear path. The equation of the linear line represented by the measurements is retrieved using linear regression. The equation retrieved from the linear line is equivalent to y= 0.00024x+0.027, where x and y represent the weight and voltage respectively. With respect to this formula, an algorithm can be developed by using MATBLAB to form a graphical user interface (GUI) for weight measurement.
