| dc.description.abstract | Seasonal heavy rains always caused severe flooding especially in the East Coast of Malaysia, resulting in mass evacuations, loss of property and sometimes life. With the rapid development of warning system nowadays, an effective solution to alert the communities of the incoming flood should be provided to give people sufficient time to evacuate and protect their property. The goal of this project is to develop and build a real-time flood water level monitoring system for the affected community in Malaysia. Temerloh, a flood prone district of Pahang, has been considered as selected site in this project. A developed model was tested for forecasting the water levels of a container with different velocity of water. Raspberry Pi 3 microcomputer are used to create flood alert based on sensor information. After assembling all the components, some tests are carried out to examine the performance of the prototype. The functionality of the system was tested by the simulation of flooding. As a result, an indication of possible flood behavior can be provided by this system based on readily available data. The results provided satisfy the objectives of the design. | |
