Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are compounds composed of metal and organic bonds bound together in a network structure. They are highly porous materials and having high surface area. In this project, MOF-199 was synthesized in house and used as received and produced in an environmental friendly method using water and fatty alcohol as compared to published method. The MOF-199 was mixed with ethanol solution with different concentrations. The MOF-199 solutions were spin coated with various revolution per minute (RPM) on the indium titanium oxide (ITO) glass. The structural characterization techniques such as X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) were done in order to compare the MOF-199 before and after spin coating process. The nanomechanical properties were studied using IBIS Nanoindentation System. The highest nanohardenss and elastic modulus values recorded were 0.2 GPa and 3 GPa respectively. Rapid improvement are still on going for this MOF-199 thin film. More MOF-199 thin film studies should been done in future works to determine whether it is suitable to be used as a cheap biosensor.
