The regenerative braking mechanism is defined as a method in which all the heat energy that is lost by braking is recovered and returned to the system without wasting it with the assistance from ultra-capacitor. This paper focuses on the use of ultra-capacitors in the regenerative braking energy storage system together with the battery as power sources, and also stores the energy produced during the regenerative braking of the dc motor. The battery meets the energy requirement while the ultracapacitor meets the power requirement. The energy management system assigns power for the two sources to be supplied. The simulation model is set up using MATLAB/Simulink software to validate the results.en_US
