The world now is falling down piece by piece due to the effect of pollution. As a civil engineer, the responsibility falls on us to repair and green this precious little lands around us. Maintaining low self concrete structural weight members with sufficient compressive strength to handle massive amounts of weight is a big move in civil engineering area and for sure the cost of building will be reduced. The objectives of this report are to investigate the structural behavior of composite slab system using light weight blocks and investigate the effect of shape of blocks in structural slab system. The slab specimens of (1.5 x 0.5 x 0.15) m' were fabricated, the first light weight slab specimen was fabricated with the presence of light square blocks of (0.1 x 0.1 x 0.1) m' and the second light weight slab specimen was fabricated using light square hollow blocks with same dimensions of (0.1 x 0.1 x 0.1) m'. Wile the third slab specimen was fabricated as a control specimen. The usage of normal concrete in the first and second slab specimens was reduced approximately by a factor of 0.5.The effect of placing light weight blocks were impressively indicated by the results obtained, the control slab specimen failed at 35.23 KN, the first light weight slab specimen has failed at a load of 35.97 KN and the Second light weight slab specimen failed at a load of 36.73 KN. the second light weight slab specimen found to be lighter with better bearing load capacity.
