This project emphasizes on the integration of basic home appliance's switching, alongside automating the way these appliances function to ensure they are efficient. The two basic appliances that will be focused in this project are AC-based lights and fans. The main point of focus for this project is the cost efficiency, energy efficiency and reliability of the system. Thus, a prototype was designed and fabricated by implementing an automated light intensity control circuit as well as an automatic fan speed regulation system based on surrounding temperature, using microcontrollers as the master controls. This project also caters for the disabled and old folks by providing a simple and effortless switching system, which is voice command-based. The prototype was tested and results proving its energy efficiency and workability were obtained and discussed based on engineering theories.
