This thesis involves with solar powered egg incubator which has been developed to demonstrate that the idea of integrating solar photovoltaic (PV) system in a poultry egg incubator will work. This incubator has been developed for small farmers and also for farmers that lives in rural areas where electricity is unstable. The capacity of the incubator developed is around 30-40 eggs depending on the egg size. However, same operation principle can be applied to larger capacity incubators as well. It is proven that the incubator was able to operate accordingly as the incubator managed to regulate the temperature and relative humidity within the required acceptable range respectively. Furthermore, the incubator provided an automatic egg turning with a motor system attached to it. The total cost constructing the incubator is over RM500 where more than half of the total cost goes to the solar photovoltaic components. The solar PV system components consist of solar panel, solar charge controller, DC to AC inverter and lastly a deep-cycle battery. The photovoltaic system integrated will act as the main energy source for the incubator. The evaluation of performance of this solar powered egg incubator is presented in this study.en_US
