In this thesis, a simple smart home automation system design is proposed, implemented and tested to achieve its function need. This smart home system is designed so that the mobile phones can be used as its control system. The sensors needed to enable automation processes of this smart home system is introduced, implemented and tested. The main sensor used by this system is temperature sensor and motion sensor. The application of Beaglebone Black as the main MCU to manage the smart home system is justified. The final product of the smart home system is produced and presented. The final product is tested and is proven to be able to handle the home appliances as intended in the design phase. Further improvement is suggested in this paper as well as the limitation of the project discovered during the process.en_US
