Abstract
Microgrid is one of the latest emerging power delivery infrastructures in modern society with prominent potentials. Microgrid is characterised as the cluster of multiple distributed generators (DGs) providing consumers with no shortage of electrical energy. In this thesis report, a grid-connected hybrid energy system will be designed optimally considering the potential of wind and solar energy in the area. Areas that has great potential of utilization of renewable sources and isolated from urban areas are most likely to be tested. The designed microgrid consisting of photovoltaic (PV) modules, wind turbines, batteries, inverters, and loads are modelled as a grid-connected hybrid system. The objective was to design and test a reliable micro-grid corresponding to power demands from connected loads. Simulation results will show the circuit system capability to safely operate without violating any voltage limits.
