Based on the on objective of this project is to study the possibility of using thorium as a fuel base for the nuclear reactor and is the cost of implementing it. The thorium fuel cycle is almost like that of the uranium fuel cycle as in the thorium fuel cycle, the thorium is first converted into uranium-233 isotope through the process of decay. This uranium isotope is the one that will used in the fission process. While researching about the thorium cycle, it is also found out that most of the reactor design to use thorium is the molten salt reactor. To achieve these objectives, the method used is through the grounded theory qualitative research approach followed by a decision matrix to determine which reactor is the most cost efficient to be used. To make the decision matrix, few criteria and sub-criteria are to be listed as to be as the parameters required to obtain the results. Based on this qualitative research approach, it is determined that the reactor ThorCon has the highest cost efficiency why the IMSR has the lowest average in terms cost efficiency.
