This thesis presents the development of kenaf fibre composite plate for strengthening of reinforced composite beam. As the demand of green materials has been increased recently for building application, studies have been carried out on the replacement of man-made fibre with natural fibre in composite materials. In this project, kenaf fibre is selected as reinforcement due to its low cost and high strength while epoxy resin is applied as matrix phase in the fabrication of the kenaf fibre reinforced composite plate. In the beginning, the thesis will explain the physical properties of the kenaf fibre reinforced composite plate, along with proper methodologies. A specific type of fabrication process, the materials and the mould will be explained thoroughly. This thesis also explains the role of the presence of water in disrupting the structural strength of kenaf fbre reinforced composite plate. Experiments are carried out to justify the theory. Mechanical property test is carried out and will be explained later. Besides, the thesis will discuss the effectiveness of epoxy resin in maintaining the strength of kenaf fibre reinforced composite plate through specimen coating. In the end, conclusions and proper recommendations will be discussed for the future project plan.
