This thesis report investigates the integration of PV-Battery hybrid power system with the main power grid. The purpose of integrating PV-Battery with the main power grid is to increase the renewable penetration and power shaving capability of the grid- connected PV system by introducing additional energy storage into the system. The additional energy storage is able to store any excessive production by the PV-array in the system and discharge the stored energy when the solar irradiance dropped. In order to examine the feasibility of the proposed HPS, College of Engineering in Universiti Tenaga Nasional Putrajaya Campus was selected as case study. Computerized simulation tool was used to simulated the performance of the proposed HPS under various conditions. Comparison of performance between the on-grid PV system and grid connected PV-Battery hybrid power system is carried out with objective to observe the operation of the additional battery and the resultant power shaving capability. Series of cost analysis were also carried out to further study the economics feasibility of the proposed HPS. Estimation of utility cost difference also been made by using the simulated energy production and utility usage obtained from Facilities Development and Management Center of Universiti Tenaga Nasional.
