Abstract
Linear Data Acquisition (LINDA) wheel with EMDEX II has been used in many studies on measuring the magnetic fields to determine whether it is safe for human exposure. However, the system only can measure magnetic fields as well as distance along the path. This means that the place of the data measured is not mapped whereby this can bring danger to human health if the magnetic field is too high. This thesis describes the design of microcontroller based Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinate data logger to improve the LINDA system in enabling mapping. The design includes hall effect sensor for determining when to save the coordinates in the micro Secure Data (microSD) card. Google Earth's ruler is used to calculate the GPS accuracy. The accuracy calculated is 5.03m which is only about 2m difference from the accuracy claimed in the datasheet. The accuracy can be improve by using a technique known as differential GPS (DGPS).
