The paper describes the study of Small Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS) study of precipitation and strengthening in a 6061-aluminum alloy. The study aim is to determine the effect of various heat treatment and ageing in strengthening a 6061-aluminum alloy. The precipitation of an aluminum alloy is a thermal treatment, which comprises of a heating treatment, and ageing process. Sample were extracted from the original material and cut into small pieces according to ASTM standard for testing purpose. This study was also to determine the mechanical properties, and microstructure of a 6061-aluminum alloy. Microscope image of 6061 aluminum alloy obtained from SEM where the microstructure of the sample can be observed.en_US
