Abstract
This thesis portrays citizen awareness and satisfaction with flood hazard mitigation policy implemented by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia (DID) and the local municipal government. 100 questionnaires were disturbed personally at two research area, one in Jelapang, Perak and another site is Kajang, Selangor. The questionnaires focus on six categories that affect the public in flood mitigation policy: (1) Reporting, (2) Awareness, (3) Insurance, (4) Communication, (5) Warning and (6) Satisfaction. The results suggest that the residents in Jelapang and Kajang generally are concerned about flooding and are unaware of many of the authority's flood hazard mitigation strategies. The results also indicate that the residents in Jelapang and Kajang are neutral with the authority's efforts, although there are many residents who express dissatisfaction with the authority.
