In recent years, distributed generation has become a popular topic and attracted serious attention due to their ability to solve problems such as the deregulation in power, voltage instability, and power losses. Therefore, the way of sizing and locating the DG becomes a popular research title and it plays an important role to make sure that the placement of DG will optimize the system performance. In this project, two methods which are the evolutionary algorithm and analytical method are used to identify the optimal location and sizing of the DG and their respective performance is determined by their impact on voltage stability index. Both methods used will be analysed and compared. Power system analysis toolbox (PSAT) is chosen to simulate this project as not only it can run the desire load flow program which is the continuous power flow (CPF), it also can run the eigenvalue analysis and participating factor that are required to identify the system voltage stability index. MATPOWER 6.0 is also used to run the algorithm. With the methods used, it will be able to mitigate the voltage stability problem that is caused by the insertion of DG.en_US
