dc.description.abstractElectric vehicle has gained a lot of attention from today's society. The rising attention towards the electric propulsion vehicle can give impact towards the power distribution system. Hence, this study will explain on the impact analysis of mass interconnection of electric vehicle to power distribution system on voltage drop. To study the impact, a few initial studies were made to understand more comprehensively regarding electric vehicle. The initial study consists of reviewing past research papers regarding the global status of electric vehicle, the benefits of electric vehicle, the battery type and charger standards and the impact of electric vehicle charging to power grid. This study will simulate the worst case scenario of electric vehicle charging. The simulation will be done by using MATLAB/Simulink software. The study will be separated into three case studies. The first is the base case study which is to design a power distribution grid without the electric vehicle charging penetration. The second case study is to connect electric vehicle with slow charging load and the third case study is to connect electric vehicle with fast charging. The result from the simulation of all three case studies will be compared to each other so that the impact of voltage drop can be studied. As a conclusion, the study does prove that mass interconnection of electric vehicle to distribution power grid will cause voltage drop to the system.
