This research is about the effect of concrete brick with coal bottom ash. The concrete brick ratio is 1 part of cement and 6 part of sand following the M British and Astr guidelines. The bottom ash was obtained from Jimah power station in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. The experimental procedure was conducted by drying the BA in an oven for 1 day and then the dried BA was grinded to 75 microns in size. Water to cement ratio of 0.55 was used for this experiment. Fine aggregates were sieved using 4.75mm sieve size. The casted bricks were air cured for a day and then immersed it in a water tank for further curing until ready for testing. 3, 7, 14 & 28 days was chosen for the testing specimens. Testing of workability, water absorption, UPV and compressive strength test were conducted. For workability, the results obtained showed that the control mix (CM) obtained a value of 90mm which is the highest and the lowest to be recorded was 50% (M50) replacement of bottom ash. Water absorption test showed that the average absorption percentage was in the range of 6- 10%. The compressive strength test results show the highest at 20% (M20) replacement, which is 26.54 MPa compared to the CM which is 18.58 MPa. For the ultrasonic pulse velocity test (UPV) the grading of the bricks was determined, giving a result of "Excellent" for M10 & M20, "Good"-M30 & M40 and "Doubtful" for M50. This is probably due to unforced error while conducting the experiment. To conclude, the objectives were met and the effects of bottom ash in concrete bricks were justified.
