Abstract
Modern energy storage technologies have changed tremendously, paving the way for the development of renewable energy generation thus offering users with a safer, cost efficient and more reliable system. Energy storage system such as Lithium Ion battery can be used in electric vehicle development and storage system for micro grid system. However, energy storage system are prone to increasing of either internal or external temperature and the battery are expected to produce lower performance resulting capacity and power loss. Thus, an intelligent controller is needed to monitor and reduce the thermal effect of the energy storage devices. Accordingly, to solve the above problems, this project will develop an optimal intelligent controller such as Fuzzy Logic and PID that can calculate and asses the condition of an energy storage system. The model and design of the said controller aims to control the battery system by implementing thermal prevention method such as forced air cooling system that will lower down the battery temperature. This research based project will be carried out with a simulation of the whole battery system to analyze the performance of the controllers when dealing with controlled environment. The results shows that the temperature regulation system works better with an intelligent controller compared to conventional controller or no controller at all.
