dc.description.abstract | This thesis reports the formation of FeCrAl alloy through warm powder compaction route. Iron powder Asc 100.29 (67 wt %) was mixed mechanically with chromium (22 wt %) and aluminium (11 wt %). The blending was conducted in low speed mixture for 30 min. The blended powder mass was then formed through T-15 warm compaction rig by applying simultaneous downward and upward load of 425 MPa at a temperature of 100°C. The as-pressed powder compacts or named as green product was solid cylindrical shape. A total nine samples were prepared. The green samples were sintered in argon gas fired furnace for 30, 60, and 90 min at 800, 900, and 1000°C at a constant rate, i.e., 5°C/min. The sintered products or final products were characterized for their physical, electrical, and mechanical properties and their microstructure were analysed through Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The element mapping was done through Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX). The results revealed that the product sintered for 90 min at a temperature of 1000°C obtained the better characteristics. | |
