This project is about the design and implementation of piezoelectric system to charge a battery. Typical battery that can be charged is 12V, Nickel Cadmium type. The piezoelectric will be stepped by the foot continuously. A capacitor is used to hold the charge. During the stepping of the piezoelectric, the pressure on the piezoelectric sensor causes electric current generated. This current will charge the capacitor. The capacitor stores the charge up to certain level of voltage. During the foot or pressure released from the piezoelectric sensor, the capacitor discharges the current to charge the battery. The charge and discharge of capacitor is the key to determine the charging rate of the battery. Since the output of the piezoelectric sensor generates small amount of current, a voltage doubler is used to double up the voltage. This could help in charging a 12 V battery. A simulation will be used to show the piezoelectric operation and the charging of the 12 V battery. At the end of the project, a small prototype is developed to show the basic piezoelectric charging system.en_US
