dc.description.abstractThis thesis report, focusing on behavior of betel nut powder in concrete mixture for nuclear reactor shielding. The properties of the radiation shielding block can be changed by applying the different amount of betel nut powder in the mixture, betel nut powder has become one of the interesting topics. Betel nut powder is replacement of cement in concrete mixing. There are few process turn betel nut into powder in this research. In this paper, four sample were prepared by using colemanite, barite, sand, cement, water, and betel nut powder. The percentage of betel nut powder was 0% as a controlled, 2%, 4% and 10% as a replacement of cement. This project and sample were completed and tested at the Malaysia Nuclear Agency (MNA) and Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN). From gamma radiation test result, it show that sample 2 (2% betel nut powder) is a good absorbent of gamma compared to others sample. According from Small Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS) test result, it shows that control sample 1 (0% betel nut powder) is a good absorbent of neutron radiation compared to the others sample.en_US
