dc.description.abstractThe rapid development in renewable energy sources (RES) and emerging technologies such as energy storage systems (ESS) and microgrid system (MG) can ensure a reliable and seamless power supply. Implementation of battery energy storage system in MG can manage a decent power balance and mitigate the intermittent nature of renewable power generation. However the vague process of charging-discharging in ESS is the major limiting factor in this integration. An efficient fuzzy logic control could diminish this issue. This thesis presents an ideal fuzzy logic controller (FLC) for ESS that can perform within acceptable range of voltage, current and state of charge. A complete charging-discharging controller of ESS simulation model integrated with MG application has been constructed in Matlab Simulink software. The rule evaluation methodology have been utilized to control the charging-discharging process. In order to validate the effectiveness of that rules and design, various graphs or results have been obtained and analysed after hours of simulation.en_US
