dc.description.abstractThis thesis testifies the development and implementation of a web based map making software. The project is aimed at creating a fun to use and user friendly map making software which can be used by all regardless of age and qualifications. This software is made available on the Internet on a website so that users can create maps for their own personal usage at the comfort of their own home. Before this web based map making software is developed, a comprehensive research has been undertaken in order to acquire as much information and knowledge about map-making. This thesis documents the complete course of action in producing and creating the map-making software and the website for the software. The project development is done gradually, in six different phases, and each phase is described extensively. The development of the map making software and the website uses Macromedia Flash 8, Macromedia Fireworks 8 and HTML, while an FTP client, WS FTP Limited Edition supports its distribution on UNITEN's Metalab server. The result of the map making software and the website can be viewed online with the web address http://metalab.uniten.edu.myt-aishalilkwang. Although the project has been completed, there is still a need to improvise on the contents and features of the software and the website. This map making software will hopefully be used practically in the near future.
