Abstract
Energy meter is the key component of electricity supply system whose reliable functioning is very important for accurate billing, controlling and monitoring of electricity consumptionThe main objective of this proposed design is to prevent tampering of energy meter and to ensure proper billing. Energy meter is integrated with the system in a such a way that if anybody opens the cover of the meter, IR sensor will send commands to the microcontroller which is Arduino Uno. The Arduino Uno senses the logical part from the IR sensor, and it will send signal to the GSM module. Once the GSM module activated will send an alert SMS to the designated mobile phone stored in the control memory. This proposed design has been summarized realization of detection of tampering of energy meter and sending a message to a mobile, through software proteus and hardware configuration. In this project, a functional prototype will be fabricated and assembled. The prototype will undergo testing phase based on the experiment that constructed by me. This prototype will be tested to investigate its potential ability as well as its suitability from the user overview. Adequate design of a wearable device will be generated and the one that suits the project needs will be selected. After that, a further process will be conducted onto the design in order to overcome the problems encountered thus the project objectives can be achievable. Furthermore, after performing prototype testing, trouble shooting and the essential modification on the design had been done. The finalized design was proven to be functional where it can send the alert SMS to the designated mobile phone and thus achieve the objective of this project. Implementation of better programming code as well as using the IR sensor unit available make the project become a success. This design will provide a wider usage of the wearable device as well as its other function in TNB industry.
