Abstract
This project will focus on manufacturing a prototype for a wind-solar hybrid charge controller. The purpose of developing a charge controller is to prevent overcharging of batteries which could affect the battery’s life span. This charge controller will be based on the Arduino UNO that is equipped with ATmega 328p-AU microcontroller. The Arduino is a versatile component capable of doing so many things. The charge controller will also implement a buck converter to keep voltage at a safe level to charge a 12V battery. The Arduino will constantly monitor voltage level at the inputs and output so that it can decide on whether to activate the wind or solar controller if the voltage at the input exceeds the enable voltage that has been set. The Arduino monitors voltage through a voltage divider and it monitors current using the ACS712 Hall Effect current sensor.
