dc.description.abstract | Power harvesting comes in many forms. The latest research on power harvesting is the human powered energy where humans itself are the main source where the power is harvested. This project develops on the investigation of the technology of human power harvesting by the human kinetic energy: the humans' footsteps. This project also contributes in the study of the technology behind the kinetic flooring tile and to implement the usage of this power harvesting method in Malaysia. The construction of the prototype is done with its main component which is the piezoelectric element which converts the mechanical energy harvested through the human footsteps into electrical energy. Number of footsteps and various modes of action are the manipulated variables in this project that helps optimize the output energy of the prototype. Conclusively, as the number of footsteps increases and as the speed of action increases, the output power is optimized accordingly. Throughout the project, gaps and research necessities are corroborated to further explore the technology behind this research topic. | |
