Marine lights or buoy lights are required for aid-to-navigation of marine transportation such as vessel ships, cruise ships, boats and yachts in the ocean. These lights are powered by batteries which need to be replaced once the batteries are depleted. For sustainability of these lights, a new design of marine light powered from solar energy is proposed. Since these lights are placed in the ocean, which has an abundant amount of energy, this project aims to design a prototype marine light powered from marine energy. Renewable marine energy refers to energy resources that occur naturally and repeatedly in the environment in particular the ocean and can be harnessed for human benefit. The objective of this project is to develop a improved marine light prototype powered by marine wave energy. The wave energy is a form of kinetic energy and can be extracted and converted into electricity by linear generator. The magnet will moves upward and downward through the windings according the wave motion to convert kinetic energy into electric energy based on Faraday's Law. Since the output voltage of linear generator is AC form, the rectifier is used to convert from AC to DC to power up the LEDs. Marine wave's energy is clean energy resources distributed across the globe and it has high level security of supply. Therefore, the waves energy is suitable to create diversity in power supply for marine light.
