dc.description.abstract | Economic growth has led to increasing demand of self-compacting concrete usage in civil engineering construction. Building construction plays a significant role in this demand. Beside it is accepted that the conservation of existing material is a main priority for the next creation. Self-compacting concrete is a high flow-able concrete mix, which flow rapidly into place without segregation and vibration for consolidation. Self compacting concrete is a type of concrete that is highly fluid allowing it to self- level, penetrate into complicated areas and formwork, through complex reinforcement and much more. Despite its increased fluidity, self compacting concrete maintains the high quality, presenting both flexibility as well as incredible strength. Its flexibility lies in the fact that there are multiple admixtures that can be added when designing the mix to create a final product that is suitable for the end result. SCC was developed in Japan to obtain durable concrete to use in structures. Various research have been carried out that this kind of concrete are capable to use in practical structures, where it is difficult or impossible to use mechanical compaction for fresh concrete, such as underwater concreting, pile foundations, machine bases and columns or walls with congested reinforcement. As for this project, durability of self-Compacting concrete is to indicate the effect of water- cement ratio, cement content, fly ash, admixture and other mix design constituents. | |
