dc.description.abstractIn high voltage system there are a lot of important things must be taken care of. One of those things is overvoltage phenomenon that usually occurs in lightning strike and switching. The most significant is overvoltage that happens during switching high inductive load because its rate of rise of overvoltage is very high. In this paper is doing the simulation on vacuum circuit breaker switching overvoltage using MATLAB Simulink software. Some researchers has done this kind of simulation but they are doing something how to improve the overvoltage that occur in switching high inductive load. The mitigation way that they have used is by implement the phase controller on the vacuum circuit breaker. So that, the rate of rise of the overvoltage can be lower. What are this paper done is actually prove that simulation of vacuum circuit breaker switching high inductive load will result a huge magnitude of overvoltage. All the methodology and result are completely show in this paper.en_US
