dc.description.abstractThis thesis reports the development of a GPS remote data logging system. This system logs on the position of the data logger, date and time, altitude and information sent by the computer connected to it via a cable. This logged information is then sent to another computer through a wireless network. The objective of this project was to plan, design, develop and test software for microcontroller based GPS remote data logging system. To complete this project, the author did a comprehensive literature review on the necessary areas to be covered when developing a data logger. After conducting the literature review that is when all the planning and designing started after gaining some knowledge on the basic fundamentals. During the implementation of this project the author faced some few difficulties and issues and he managed to tackle most of them. With all the problems that the author faced during the project, he managed to achieve the objective of the project. The software program developed by the author was successfully able to run on the developed data logger device and was also able to send the logged data to another computer through Wi-Fi communication.
