This thesis compares the cell-vertex and cell-centred schemes in the simulation of high speed compressible flow. The calculation is carried out using the Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) where mass, momentum and energy equations are solved simultaneously over the flow domain. The geometry used to investigate the flow consist a single shock tube channel and structure H-mesh scheme is implemented throughout the flow domain. The finite volume CFD solver employs first order and second order accurate upwind differencing scheme for the spatial discretization. In addition, a few comparisons between the new solver and existing solver are made.en_US
