Abstract
Piping, Pipeline or mass transport line are main core application that usually involve in oil and gas industries. By doing some research, pipeline that involve in oil and gas industries are come from high technology design and material of use. Therefore, its need to be do inspection and maintenance regularly to make sure the pipeline is in good condition to be used. Inspection towards pipeline needs to do before and after doing the maintenance on it. But the inspection is very hard to do from the inside the pipe to make sure the condition is in good. From nowadays, there are many new kinds of technology that involve in inspection purposes especially using Non-Destructive Testing and its cost a lot of money. Several studies have been found about in-pipe robot, it is commonly divided into three type of robot which is caterpillar type robot, wheel type robot and screw type robot. All these three type have their own advantages and disadvantages. Although, the study about mechanism at each type of the robot have been made so that can implement the idea on the design part. However, this project is designing and developing an inspection robot that can do an inspection inside the pipeline. Some application that can receive in this designing of robot are this robot that maneuver inside the pipeline wirelessly while run it. In this development project, it is divided into two section which is to develop complete controlling system and the second part is design and develop the robot prototype. However, after complete until finding and observation part, several changes need to apply to countermeasure the such a technical problem happens during this development of robot prototype. The changes need to apply is change the spring with more suitable type and the second is change the material with more hardness for robot prototype. Hence, in this project thesis is shows the whole development that involve in DESIGNING AND DEVELOPING AN INSPECTION ROBOT FOR OIL AND GAS APPLICATIONS.
