Solar photovoltaic system is today's discovery in generation of electricity using renewable energy. Malaysia is situated exactly on the equator line which makes Malaysia as the strategic place to receive approximately 6 hours of sunlight daily. At the same time, solar as renewable energy can make huge difference in saving the coal reserves from depletion. Apart from that, based on Malaysia geographical condition there is no proper electrical supply at rural areas. Thus, for trekkers and campers a small solar photovoltaic system will be very useful to supply power to the appliances for recreational purposes such as camping, tracking and picnic. In this project, a small solar photovoltaic system is built to supply power to a 65 watt refrigerator. Several articles and journals were studied thoroughly in order to design and build the prototype while several experiments were carried out to determine the effectiveness of the designed solar photovoltaic system.
