dc.description.abstract | Electromagnetic brake is a contactless braking system that uses eddy current as the medium to stop the rotating disc. The eddy current is being induced around the disc area and it will produce a retarding braking force which comes from the interaction between the eddy current and the magnetic flux [1]. The contactless braking system will reduce the brake debris when braking from using the conventional braking system such as friction disc and drum brake. The debris proved to be a hazardous to the environment, humans and animals [2]. This thesis shows the research and development of the electromagnetic brake concept that can be used to replace the conventional friction braking system. | |
