dc.description.abstract | The main objective of this project is to analyse and clarify whether the implementation of hybrid renewable energy system of hydroelectric and solar PV is suitable and practical to supply 24 hours electricity to the residents of Rumah Panjang Nangga Sepetai in Belaga, Sarawak. The research area occupies 20 houses in total and it is currently not connected to the transmission grids provided by Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB). For now, the residents fully rely on diesel generator which only provides 13 hours of electricity. Apart from limited access to electricity, the diesel generator also pollutes the environment by disposing greenhouse gases when operating. In order to achieve this objective, data is collected, and a series of simulations are done using a software name Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Electric Renewable (HOMER). This software will design the most suitable electrification system based on components, quantity required, size of equipment, technology options, cost and availability of energy resources according to the user demand. By providing all the inputs, this software will run a simulation based on the combination of data configurations. from the simulation results, we are able to know whether the hybrid renewable energy system is suitable and practical to be implemented to the research area. | en_US |
