dc.description.abstract | Global demand for electricity are increasing over the year. However, the current way of generating electricity comes with various concerns. Therefore, many countries had taken numerous efforts to overcome those concerns including the Government of Malaysia which introduced Feed-in Tariffs policy in Rancangan Malaysia ke-11. This study is aimed to assess the impact of feed-in tariffs towards biomass industry in Malaysia by using system dynamics approach. In this study, a system dynamics model was produced using Semantics System Dynamics software and the results will be based on the model produced. Based on the System Dynamics model produced, three experiments had been done with the model. Based on the experiments, optimum construction commence capacity limit had been identified which is 40 MW per year. The second experiment had found that with the current Feed-in Tariffs rate for biomass and oil palm empty fruit bunch economic value, it is most likely that Malaysian government's target of 1340 MW cumulative operational biomass capacity by the year 2050 are not achievable. The last experiment had found the minimum Feed-in Tariffs rate in order to achieve the target which is to increase the current Feed-in Tariffs rate to 1.4425 RM/kWh. Therefore, more effort need to be done in order to achieve the target of 1340 MW operational biomass capacity by the year 2050 by Malaysian government especially in setting the Feed-in Tariffs for biomass. | |
