Abstract
Metal organic framework is a new founded hybrid material that has extremely huge potential and begun to make attention to research community. Is has unique structure which is large surface area and pore volume. Due to the characteristics, it is able to be used in gas-storage, gas separation, gas sensing, and as a catalyst. The ability has made scientists and researchers become interested with MOFs. This study objective is to synthesis and characterization of Cobalt (II) doped MOF-5. The synthesis method and parameter commonly based on past journal paper. In this thesis, different number of Cobalt (II) mole ratio was used in synthesis Cobalt (II) doped MOF-5. Doping metal ion into MOF-5 is a new study. Thus, characterization of Cobalt (II) doped MOF-5 using various number of cobalt (II) ratio were compared and study. Several technique of characterization was used in this project. X-ray diffraction technique was used to study the identical form of peak and crystallite size behavior. Apart from that SEM and EDX were also used to study the morphology and composition of element in the samples. Lastly, using the UV-Vis technique to study the adsorbance in the samples Future recommendation based on problem encounter throughout this project was state at the end of this thesis.
