Power system nowadays is becoming more complex and competitive due to higher demand from load side with very limiting opportunity for system expansion. Power system operation must work with high efficiency to maintain the system reliability. Weather is basically one of the major factors that will affect the reliability of power system performance. During adverse weather conditions, heavily loaded network are very prone to outage. This will lead to critical problem such as voltage collapse. In order to control and alleviate such condition, research and studies have been focused to monitor power system operation. An effective method in modelling the weather impact on transmission network will enable the utility to control and compare the system's performance In this project, two methods are presented in modelling the transmission line to estimate the failure rate. The first method is based on Poisson Regression model which follow the Poisson distribution. The second method is based on Bayesian network model which will used the conditional probability of failures given the different weather states. The results obtained by these models are compared to analyze and evaluate their performances.
