Connection of distributed generation on the scale that is envisaged will require practical solutions to a number of identified technical, commercial and regulatory challenges. One of the technical challenges is fault level management as connection of distributed generation often results in increased fault levels beyond the capacity of existing switchgear, especially in urban areas. The research is organized into three phases where phase 1 will cover the basic theory on types of electrical fault followed by specific studies on high current fault, including protection from high current fault. Research was done to those methods that can be applied to reduce faults.en_US
