Abstract
For the past years, solar energy has been a familiar renewable energy source around the world. The main purpose of carrying out this project is to study the implication of different PV sizes on the power system grid and to investigate the effect of PV system when connected to a power system grid. To accomplish the objectives, three case studies were simulated which are PV system alone, grid system only and grid-connected PV system. The model for each case is developed using PSCAD Simulation Software. The parameters measured are the output voltage of PV system, voltage and current of the grid, active and reactive power of the load system. In addition, the project is analyzed according to peak voltage, rise time and settling time. The outcomes of this project show that the higher the PV system size, the greater the contribution of the PV system in securing the steady-state power system grid. The simulation results also demonstrate that the PV system contributes to controlling the power in the power system.
