F6 gas density monitoring in Gas Insulated Switchgear Substation (GIS) has the transmitter part and receiver part of the system. SF6 is another medium for quenching and insulating media such as air and oil. In some applications, it shows that increasing usage of SF6 gas in industry because the efficient utilization of resources in energy distribution and transmission regarding personnel, technology and finances. The existing SF6 technology in the field of energy distribution and transmission is the outcome of decades of optimization and contributes essentially to the further development of the economically efficient power distribution. In order to monitor SF6 gas density in GIS substation, the system must be capable to track the input sensor using pressure sensor. Monitoring data by using XBee was proven to be working successfully. From the result, it is concluded that the hardware synchronize workable within the programming PIC of sensors and control, monitor using Visual Basic. Application of theory that learnt in syllabus, books and other people enhance the knowledge in the field of RF communication. This concluded that this project had to prove a concept of Zigbee is the best solution for low data rate and short range communications.
