The objective of this project is to develop a method of reducing leakage in labyrinth seal by using rotating orifices, which manipulate the air flow to prevent and to reduce the leakage inside the rotating components by using CFD software. A test rig was designed and built to perform the experiments and the results were compared with the numerical analysis performed using the proprietary software STAR-CD. The results indicate that the more higher of the discharge coefficient of flow rate, the more better seal can be produced. For the information, discharge coefficient is affected by the presence of incidence angles.en_US
